A Man of Joy

When I think of Steve I immediately see his big smile, hear his joyous laugh, and feel a sense of clamness and security.

Steve was one of those guys you knew could do it all: build anything and fix anything. In a single afternoon he could build a deck, cook, clean, garden, weld, play with his girls, drop everything to help Janine, visit with the neighbors, AND go on a Search and Rescue mission if called. Steve's energy and zest for life infected everyone he spent time with. He was a masterful storyteller and I loved just sitting and listening to his tales--old and new. His stories were extravagent in their telling and rich in detail, and I never doubted their authenticity or accuracy. Steve made you feel alive whenever he talked--you really felt like you were there with him.

Steve, I will miss you beyond words. I will honor your memory always. Thank you for everything you contributed to the world in the very short time you had.

Find Sanjay for me up there: give him a hug and watch over him if you can. I'm sure even in Heaven he's getting into trouble and needs some help from Search and Rescue.

Janine, I love you. Although it will never, ever be enough, you have an army of love and support behind you and the girls. Forever.
